In May I completed a charity cycle ride for the Blind Veterans UK, cycling 150+ miles from Brighton to Paris. We were a group of 39 cyclists including three of the Blind Veterans on tandems.
So many of us take our sight for granted. We don’t realise how lucky we are. All three have undergone experiences we can't imagine and lost not only their sight but their sense of identity and in many cases have lost everything as a result.
They are an amazing source of inspiration. With the support of the Blind Veterans they have rebuilt their lives and are taking on challenges most of us wouldn't even consider.
Their courage shows us, with patience, persistence and focus on your desired outcome, anything is possible when you put your mind to it.
You just need to make a start!
What's your challenge for this year?
It was an honour to cycle with them and to raise funds for such a worthy cause. You can still donate through my JustGiving page.
